So, at the very last minute, meaning four days before leaving, I met Anamaria. She had actually had my father as a client for nine years, and she was helping me with some of my perscriptions I needed before leaving for a couple months. We got to talking, and... before you know it, I'm staying at her parents' home in Santiago.
Honestly, I could not have met a nicer person in the world. Kind, generous, fun-loving... Anamaria is a total gem with some pretty awesome kids, Andres and Mattias. Haha, and then I met her family. Oh my goodness. They completely welcomed me into their home and as a part of their family. There's my host "parents," I call them auntie and uncle (in Spanish no doubt), Claudito, Gabriel, Ximena, Eduardo (or Walo), Francisca, Josefa, Renato, Blass, and many more to meet.
So far, I've been learning a ton of Chilean words and phrases, weon. My Spanish ears are coming back, and I'm getting used to all the lightning fast talking.
